CAP question

An automation engineer is designing a communication interface to facilitate the transfer of critical alarm data from the control system network to a central reporting application on the enterprise network. The family of technical standards this engineer should consult during the design of this interface is:

A. ISA 18
B. ISA 88
C. ISA 95
D. ISA 50

CAP Answer

The answer is C, ISA 95: Enterprise-Control System Integration. ISA 18, which includes the ISA 18.2 standard for management of alarm systems, is not correct. The question is asking about the interface between the control network system and the enterprise network, which is covered by ISA 95. ISA 18.2 covers the design and maintenance of the alarm system, not network communication to the enterprise level.

ISA 88 is the internationally recognized batch control standard, and ISA 50 is the standard for Foundation Fieldbus.
