Control Centers Standards Committee Reactivates

ISA60, Control Centers, is seeking new members as it reactivates under the leadership of cochairs Donald Dunn and Ian Nimmo. The committee will work on writing and updating a series of recommended practices on topics that could include terminology, human engineering, seismic and other vibrations, modular construction, documentation and division of responsibilities, profiles, fabrication and finish, electrical wiring and sizing, graphic displays, inspection and testing, and more. ISA Standards: New Projects and Public Review

As part of its accreditation by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), ISA must submit two types of official forms to ANSI to announce (a) the start of a standards project and (b) the public review of a draft standard in development. ISA-106.00.01-2023 Published

ANSI/ISA-106.00.01-2023, Procedure Automation for Continuous Process Operations, has been published and is available for viewing or purchase. This standard defines models, styles, strategies, philosophies, and the lifecycle for automation of procedures in the continuous process industries. It builds on these previous ISA technical reports by the ISA106 standards committee: ISA-TR106.00.01, Procedure Automation for Continuous Process Operations – Models and Terminology, and ISA-TR106.00.02-2017, Procedure Automation for Continuous Process Operations – Work Processes.


ISA-TR5.9-2023 Published

ISA-TR5.9-2023, Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) Algorithms and Performance, has been published and is available for viewing or purchase. This ISA technical report documents common PID algorithms used in industrial control systems, including the various algorithms’ implementation methods, options, and performance measurements.
